Nailed with Love: Remove Glitter Nail Polish

Hello, everyone!

Last time, I shared my very sparkly nails.
It took two weeks before I decided to remove it and change my nail polish.

Now, for the first time users of glitter nail polish, I'm telling you - these babies can be a pain in the ass when it comes to removing them. They will tear up and snag up any cotton ball that will try to ordinarily swipe 'em away.

There are various approaches on how to battle with remove this polish type.
But here's the most basic way to do it (for me, at least).

You will need nail polish remover, cotton balls and patience.

Cotton balls | Bobbie Nail Polish Remover

All you have to do is soak the cotton balls in nail polish remover and press it on the fingernail.

And now you wait.

After a few minutes, try to swipe off the cotton ball. Most of the nail polish should already be removed. For Bobbie's The Big Bang, it took me around 3 minutes of waiting time. To clean off any remaining polish, just use another cotton ball, makeup remover or a wet tissue (whatever suits you) with nail polish remover.

(please excuse my dirty nails, this right after the removal - no cleaning yet)

And that's it!
Here are some of the alterations on this process that I've read over the internet.

1. I did try to use tape to keep the cotton balls in place. It worked fine but once the polish remover drips, the tape peels off.
2. I later on figured that a small hair elastic or rubber band would be more effective. And it is. Just wind it around the fingernail. But don't tighten it too much!
2. Some cut foil strips and wrap it around their fingers. I doubt I would ever try this because (a) I'm too lazy to find AND cut foil and (b) I don't want to look like some random cousin of Edward Scissorhands with deformed foil hands.

Now, I noticed that this can make your nails dry so it's good to moisturize your hands afterwards.

I'm using some random cuticle oil I got from Saizen. But you could use any cuticle oil or hand lotion you want.

How about you? Do you have a special technique or you just scrub off the hell out of you nailies? Amel

Throwback Thursday

Tried to make a photo collage of me and the greatest girlfriend last month and came up with an idea of posting it for our Throwback Thursday. (Did you say Throwback Thursday?) Well, what's the problem? We're Asians! We love putting our old pictures together and we also like taking pictures of our food before we eat it! Ha, ha, ha!

Zombies! More Zombies! ZOMFG – Get Ready, For Outbreak Missions!

With all the hype in flesh-devouring masses known as Zombies and TV shows like “The Walking Dead” —and movies like World War Z, etc., Zombies in pop culture have become a self-sustaining meme already. Why? Because we like something that scares us or something the grosses us out. Sensationalism is the catalyst that powers influences such as this.

Since 2008, fun runs and marathons have increased greatly in popularity. Despite this growing figure, running has yet to meet its full potential.

Inspired by Run for Your Lives, Outbreak Manila adds a whole new twist to the typical 5km run. Its goal is to come up with a race that stands out from all the rest by giving people a cause that they would really run for. And what better cause can there be than to run as if your life depended on it?

This time you aren't just running against time or obstacles. But you'll also be running from FLESH EATING ZOMBIES.

Experience

I’ve been joining the run for 2 consecutive years already. Since then, it has become a routine for me and my friends to wear even simple costumes which are highly encouraged at the event.

Before the start of the race, we were given a belt with 3 flags attached to it. These flags represent our health for the race.

During the race, zombies are scattered across the course to eat our brains… err get those flags. One zombie can only get one flag from you.

Upon crossing the finish line, you must at least have one health flag intact in order to be eligible for prizes. Glad two of my friends (Glennise and Jhett) survived with one health flag attached to them.

As for Evan, my brother (Nathan) and me, we have lost all our flags but we were still able to finish the race. Well, we too got our prizes or what you so called (pampalubag loob) a T-shirt, loot bags and masculine wash. Ha, ha, ha!

Overall, despite a lot of people getting bruises because of the track, most of the participants including us were really satisfied with the zombies’ and the overall fun run event.

After the tiring race that ended up around 1am already, we decided to eat and asked my brother to drive to the nearest 24-hour food chain. AKA Jollibee! Ha, ha, ha!

I asked my friends about the future of Outbreak, they smiled and excitedly said, “Tara, next time ulit!". We really are excited for the next Outbreak . And there it is! It's happening again!

Outbreak Missions

For the next Outbreak, registration for the event will open on September 14, 2013, Friday. Unlike the previous events which were held in BGC, Enchanted Kingdom and Nuvali, this time, it will be held down south in Festival Mall, Filinvest, Alabang.

Stemmed from the 5km Zombie Infested Course of Outbreak Manila, comes an adrenaline fuelled zombie adventure where your survival is dependent on the choices and sacrifices you make.

Survival Missions is not merely a run, it’s an adventure.

With nine other survivors, you will live out one of two survival scenarios that you’ve chosen. Starting from one of the few remaining human outposts, you will be tasked to explore several areas with each location leading towards the overall objective. Look for other survivors, uncover clues, and collect scattered supplies--all while maneuvering your way through lurking flesh eating zombies.

Outbreak Missions is a physically-demanding, role-playing adventure.

Adarna Initiative: (October 4 and 18, 2013)

Mission Log:

A medical convoy transporting a rumored cure to the outbreak was ambushed by zombies while on its way to a nearby lab facility. Curiously named “Adarna Initiative”, there is no available information about the cure other than its version 2.0 is only 96% completed.

This mission is a thrilling adventure from start to finish. Navigate through hordes of zombies, avoid malicious surivors with self-serving plans, and perform challenges to find out if the Adarna initiative is truly effective. Proceed with extreme caution; you’re out there alone with only a few geeky scientists to guide you.

The Narrows (October 19, 2013)

 Mission Log:

Running out of resources, the outpost has fallen on tough times, and most of the members of their community are gone, leaving for the promise of an escape-- a bus with a straight shot out of the infected zone.

The mission is to fight for survival and set a path to the bus, the only way out of the area. Navigate your way through the mall and its narrows while being on the lookout for lives that are scattered around. Be careful, the most dangerous thing out there might not even be the zombies.

Nailed with Love: Bobbie The Big Bang

How have you been?

The sun is giving off the perfect amount of bright here in Manila.
Not too harsh, not too gloomy.

It's been a while since I painted my nails so I wanted something fun.
And I found it.

So much glitter and sparkles!

It's actually shinier in person than in the pictures.
It is sheer, though. I applied three coats and my nail tips are still seen in some angles.

Bobbie Nail Hardener | Bobbie The Big Bang | Caronia Fast-Dry Top Coat

Tip: Paint a very, very generous amount of top coat. I gave it two thick coats.
This is so the grainy texture (from the glitters and whatevers) will be slightly smoothed, making it last a wee bit longer. However, if you're going for the texture, feel free to skip the top coat.

Seeing this on my nails definitely lifts my mood.
After painting my nails, I had to stick my hands to my mum's face with a big smile.
I just can't help it! Amel

Nailed with Love

Hi, everyone!

Welcome to the first post of Nailed with Love.
What the hell is this, you say?

This is my way of sharing my passion for nail polishes.
It originated from my old blog, although sadly, that one I let die.
So I pointed a knife and looked at Nes fiercely to convince him to include it here.
*evil laugh*

Moooooving oooooon...

I'm really thrilled on this one.
So please, please, pretty please... (with batting eyelashes)
Do check out posts on nail color swatches and hopefully, pretty nail artworks! Amel

Movie Time: The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants (2005)

I have recently watched The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants. (Whaaat? Just now? I know, I know.) I was not really a fan of the young adult genre back then. But now the rainy season's here, I've decided to watch movies that caught my attention before that I let pass by through the years. And this is the first one on my list.

I was pleased I chose to watch this over the weekend. It's such a light, feel-good movie that makes you look back at the special memories with your own clique. Not only did it give such a realistic portrayal of four teen's lives, but also showcased the beauty of different locations such as Mexico and Greece. Oh, I am truly in love with the scenic shots in Greece.

And just like the saying "There's more than meets the eye," this movie is definitely filled with life lessons and self-reflecting thoughts.

The scene that struck me most was when Bailey is already confined in the hospital and Tibby went to visit her.
B: I want you to do something for me.
T: What?
B: Finish your movie.
T: Why?
B: Because you can.

Riiiiiight? I mean, that is such a simple sentence but has so much value. It is enough reason to do something that you've been avoiding to do for so long. Because you can. No excuse can get any better than that.

How about you? Have you watched the movie? (Unlike loser me, that is.) What's your favorite line/s? Amel
